King Charles Makes MTV's Brand New 2012 Shortlist

The first major 2012 new music poll has been revealed as MTV Brand New 2012 announced its shortlist of new artists tipped for big things next year.

Urban music and singer-songwriters dominate in a list of nine new, upcoming artists. London is well-represented as 7 of the 9 artists come from the capital: Angel, Charli XCX, Clement Marfo and the Frontline, Delilah, Michael Kiwanuka, King Charles and Lianne la Havas.
The coveted tenth spot on the list – to be awarded to an unsigned UK act - will be announced on January 9, 2012 before voting commences for all ten to go head-to-head to win the ultimate ŒBrand New for 2012’ title.
